Meet Josh Barton our Support and Migration Specialist who is passionate about providing the highest level of customer service. Read our full Q&A with Josh and find out about his proudest moment at BrokerReady:
When did you join BrokerReady? What were you doing beforehand?
I joined BrokerReady in September 2017. Prior to working in BrokerReady I was in the army as a tank crewman which I enjoyed but was not a good job to do with a family and needed a change. I have always enjoyed IT as a hobby so it was a great fit.
What is your role at BrokerReady and what does a typical day look like for you?
My role with BrokerReady is mostly customer support and maintenance. We start the day with a walk as this allows us time to talk about projects/tasks that we are currently working on without any distractions. Then we will return back to the office to start working on customer service and maintenance. Often some work will need to happen outside of hours but this has been greatly reduced due to the software we have implemented.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy dealing directly with customers. This way I get to know more about them and also see any trends in issues to give better service to all clients. I also enjoy the vast range of work that this includes, for example creating new users, solving issues, working with Microsoft support for advanced email issues.
What makes BrokerReady special in comparison to other places you’ve worked?
BrokerReady is very different from the other places I have worked. At BrokerReady the main goal is to get businesses up and running as reliably as possible to decrease any possible downtime. It is a really enjoyable workplace and most of all I enjoy talking to our customers.
What is your proudest moment at BrokerReady?
My proudest moment at BrokerReady Australia was coming on as a shareholder and director. All of the hard work and long hours has paid off. This has encouraged me to push harder!
What book did you read last? What did you like/dislike about it?
I am a nerd at heart, I have been reading Leviathan Wakes by James Corey. I like the ideas on how humanity has been in space for many years and how civilisation changes. Don’t really have any dislikes.
If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and why?
If I could meet anyone, I would have to say Elon Musk. Elon has a different way of looking at problems however big or small. He has also created a lot for himself and progressed humanity further into the future faster than anyone yet.
If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring and why?
If I were to be stuck on an island I would bring;
- A fishing rod to catch fish
- A knife to get into coconuts for water
- A fire starter to cook the fish.
The main thing is no technology! haha
This actually sounds like a good holiday idea to me!
