It is vital that your employees are trained in relation to Cyber Threats and Cyber Security.
Cyber threats often infiltrate networks via innocent staff mistakes. Without proper awareness and training, entire networks can go up in smoke.
When it comes to cyber security, staff can be the greatest asset or greatest risk to your network. One wrong click from a user and your entire business network can be compromised. Improving staff awareness around the different types of cyber threats and mitigating and avoiding them must be a priority for all businesses.
There are many ways in which cyber-security training can be implemented in your business. These include:
- In house presentations
- Forum discussions
- Sharing examples of threats that have been received and identified
All staff should be encouraged to alert someone if they have any concerns relating to suspect emails, URLs, websites, and files. Staff should be advised to contact the sender via telephone and confirm that the email is legitimate, along with a discussion about its contents and attachments. Data contained in emails, like bank account details, should also be confirmed via phone.
Your internal processes and staff are are the last and arguably most important lines of defense against a cyber threat. Therefore, this line must be as strong as it can be.
